Jason Wu Inaugural Gown

It’s nice to see such a young designer get big exposure like this. However, this dress isn’t really flattering and like we’ve mentioned in other postings, this is JANUARY. What’s up with wearing a spring frock in the dead of winter? Michelle is a strong woman and we like strong colors on her like the rich shades worn on the campaign trail. It lacks the sophistication we’d expect from the First Lady and if it were seen on the red carpet on Oscar night, the press would not have nice things to say about the celebrity wearing it.  Leave the pale colors for Sunday brunch.  Since the other Jason Wu dress worn for the Barbara Walters interview was made in New York, we might believe this one was sewn in the same atelier.

Mr. Som breaks the rules with an Inaugural Ball design portraying a white dress. Uh, isn’t the inauguration in January, also known as the dead of winter? It’s got a Jackie-O thing workin’ but for the most part looks like 60′s bridal. We like white on Michelle’s beautiful dark skin but hey, watch the seasons. No white shoes after Labor Day!
